What's Your Style No. 2 - Design for Dog Lovers

We design the spaces of our home for family and friends. And for some clients that includes the four-legged members of our families. How fun to add great furniture pieces, wallcoverings, and fabrics to our room design that feature our love of dogs!

The placement of these adornments should follow the same consideration as any other choices in your design plan. Keeping in mind lifestyle and product expectations, especially with fabric choice. It is wise to consider Sunbrella and Crypton fabrics for upholstery. These performance fabrics are woven like indoor fabrics, with finishing techniques that create softness and draping.

Save the novelty fabrics for window treatments and those pieces that are not a daily use part of the room. Just don't forget these fabrics, they are the personality in your space!

Other important factors in your room design are the durability of the floorcovering. However, this doesn't mean you have to sacrifice style. If you are considering carpet, may we recommend you lean towards wool? Wool carpet is made from wool which is a natural product that is shorn from sheep. It is naturally biodegradable and hypoallergenic and contains no chemicals that can be harmful to the environment. Wool also repels dirt and soil as well as dust mites and other debris. This makes it much easier to clean and keeps it looking cleaner. It repels liquids as well so anything spilled on wool carpet can be instantly cleaned up without any stains left behind.

Good news, because this also allows for a beautiful wool area rug to be a part of your room design. Great patterns and textures of wool broadloom carpeting can be selected and not only be installed wall to wall, but also make beautiful area carpets with a range of border options.
