Showhouse Design No. 2 - 2015 Harrisburg Symphony Showhouse & Gardens

Davids Furniture & Interiors finds it a privilege to be a part of our communities. The 2015 Harrisburg Symphony Showhouse & Gardens is no exception. Our design for the Living Room at this picturesque property was selected as the room our designers Paul Snyder and Debbie Runkle would execute. And execute they did!

This year's Harrisburg Symphony Society Showhouse & Gardens features Lindenwood Farm, an historic Pennsylvania property that dates back to 1765! Attention to the history of the property and its architecture were not ignored by these Davids' designers. But one can't help but notice a bit of a nod to livable warmth and comfort in the room.

This Living Room is inviting and interesting. A superb gathering place for family, friends, and great conversations.

The display of the many curiosities wherever the eye lingers makes time seem to stand still and then...you remember you have an entire property to explore. This truly is a room that defines eclectic sophistication.

At Davids we build beautiful rooms that fit your style. This is one example of style. A visit to this room is meant to inspire. A visit to this room is meant to allow the visitor to take home an idea for your space. Because sometimes it is one item in a room that starts the design process. We are here to partner with you to build your beautiful room, defining your style.

Without a talented designer, the process can seem to be a daunting game of chess. Come to Davids and partner with one of our exceptionally-talented designers, you will enjoy the process of building your beautiful room, just as much as you will enjoy the finished space for years to come.

The Harrisburg Symphony Showhouse & Gardens is open through Saturday, June 13, 2015. Visit www.symphonyshowhouse.org for more information. Want to know more about Davids? Visit our website at www.davidsfurniture.com.

A Good Night's Sleep - What your Sleeping Position Says About Your Personality

A recent poll done by Sealy on Facebook triggered my interest in sleeping positions. A study analyzing common sleeping positions found that each position is actually linked to a particular personality type.

According to the research done by sleep specialist, Chris Idzijowski, PhD, if you curl up in the fetal position when you sleep, you may be tough on the outside and soft on the inside. If you sleep in the "log" position you are typically easy going, sociable, and want to run with the A-list crowd.

People who sleep with both arms out in front (Yearner) can be suspicious and cynical. Someone who sleeps on their back with both arms up around the pillow (Starfish) make good friends and are always ready to listen and offer help.

That leaves the Soldier and Freefaller. The study found that the Soldier position sleeper is associated with being quiet and reserved and having very high standards.  And the Freefaller position sleeper tends to feel anxious about getting tasks done, is sensitive and dislikes criticism.

One important factor is clear, "If you sleep in a bad position, you're more likely to be grumpy the next day" states Dr. Idzijowski.

I think we can all agree, no matter your sleep position, an investment in a great quality mattress and boxspring should be at the top of your list. At Davids we offer a well-chosen line-up of Sealy and Stearns & Foster products to fit your needs and a staff ready to help you find your "Goldilocks" bed.

Treat yourself well. Come to Davids to experience the most informative and enjoyable mattress shopping you will find anywhere.

Showhouse Design No. 1 - 2014 Home Builders Street of Dreams

Live Edge by Harden

Davids is proud to a part of our neighboring communities. We love to be out in these neighborhoods participating in showhouses, streets of dreams, and other community activities. In the Fall of 2014 we partnered with Roland Builders, Inc. in designing their Street of Dreams sophisticated casual home.

What a great design for a relaxed Study

Shades of orange were the perfect on-trend color for this Great Room!

Nothing like a architecturally-interesting Dinette to compliment the
structural design of the furnishings.

What a stunning, yet relaxed Master Suite.

Our designer,  Sharon Brill at our Harrisburg, PA location did a fabulous job building these beautiful rooms. Visit our website for information on our Design Services. www.davidsfurniture.com

Time to Get your Whites Out! - Designing a Room in Whites

In the fashion world it's time to get your whites out! Lucky for the rule breakers you can have your white out all year round in your home!

At Davids our exceptionally-talented interior designers can show you how to build a beautiful room in whites or, like your favorite ice cream cone, with a twist or sprinkles!

Don't be shy about using white in your home. With the right selection of upholstery fabric content and durability you will love your story of whites.

White is not really a color, it's a neutral, but gives off feelings of simplicity, joy, innocence, enlightenment, individualism, optimism, freshness, open, expansive, and reflective. How delightful is a white story for spaces in our homes!

As with any color there are many shades of white so it can present a challenge in designing a space. Whites can reflect and give off hues and hints of color. Work with your interior designer to hone in on "your" perfect white.

So does your white story come with a twist or sprinkles? Or is it sophisticated-ly vanilla?

Are You in The Mood? - Moody Room Design

Moody, it's a style that embraces you as soon as you walk into the room. A moody room is not meant to be dark and dreary. With the right wall color it is stunningly dramatic, yet livable.

But this design style doesn't stop at the selection of the right wall color. As with all room design, selecting the right furnishings can create the room of your dreams. Another element in this design that is extremely important is the right lighting.

A Moody room just doesn't happen. It takes an exceptionally-talented interior designer to build a beautiful moody room. You will prevent mistakes by partnering with this kind of talent for your moody space.

Where is a moody space appropriate in our home? Anywhere! Even a hallway!

And a moody space doesn't require that the wall color be grey. Although it is a great choice. There are beautiful palettes of "moody" aubergines, teals, greens and the like, that are winners for this look.

Are you in the mood for a dramatic moody space in your home?
